What is a magnetic lock?
A magnetic door lock is a lock uses an electric current to produce the magnetic force and increased strength because the current won’t allow the doors to be forced open with any amount of pressure. Magnetic locks are one of the most secure locks; they are reliable and rarely hacked. They allow for fast access to the building.
How does a magnetic lock work?
Magnetic locks use electromagnetic force to stop doors from opening. A plate is attached to the door and the magnetic to the door frame. The lock chosen, the voltage, and strength of the electromagnetic force determine its abilities.
An electromagnetic lock creates a magnetic field when energized, causing an electromagnet and armature plate to become attracted to each other. Maglocks require power to remain locked and this makes them fail-safe for use as emergency exits. If the power goes out the door unlocks, allowing people to exit the building.
